HOT AIR BALLOONING-SKY IS THE LIMIT FOR FUN & LIBERTY

October 25th, 2008 admin No comments

As far as the safety is concerned there are companies which are certified by CAA & there are pilots who are qualified in terms of their safety record.

There are places in US & UK where hot air balloon festivals are celebrated with immense enthusiasm. Britain holds the big Bristol balloon festival where over 200 balloons take part.

Hot air balloons are different in sizes & shapes according to their usage. There are the big ones which carry more people as they are stronger & has the capacity too hold more fuel on board.

Hot air balloons are difficult to handle for the pilots so it should be flown in the early mornings or in the evenings as the air remains still & manageable at those times of the day. During the day time there might be certain difficulties as the air consistency might be hampered due to the thermal changes.

For the safety reasons in Africa & other countries, the balloons are tracked by GPS which might save you from landing among a herd of lions in Africa as balloons are one of the most effective ways to see the rear & dangerous animals even in African jungles without disturbing the animals.

Flying in sky at the dawn & dusk is a wonderful & unforgettable experience. It gives us the feeling of freedom from our hazardous regular life & takes us closer to the nature. And of course the fun doing a hot air ballooning is like nothing else.

Hand Wash

How often have you been attacked by embarrassing diseases like diarrhea or dysentery? Or how often have you allowed your baby to be attacked by these diseases? We all do know the answers & the reasons as well.

We often ignore a small thing like washing our hands. But it is so important & ignoring it can be so dangerous & sometimes even lethal.

A study done recently in Nepal signified the importance of washing the hands of the nurses before giving birth to a child. It ensures the child a hazard free first month of survival. The death risk of the baby reduces by 19% when nurses do so & when the moms wash their hand before holding the baby it reduces up to 40%. And afterwards while rearing the child, the habit of washing hands by mother can save the baby from diseases like diarrhea.

Not only babies but the adults also can be infected with many diseases if their hands are not washed with soap properly.

A nurse washes her hands before entering a patient’s room. The simple act of washing hands can prevent the spread of disease.

Health specialist’s advice is to wash the hands with soap before cooking & after it, before & after meals, after using the toilet. Hands should also be washed properly before & after cleaning babies. It is necessary to wash hands also after cleaning pets& handling animal waste.  & though sounds ridicules

Hand washing is also a good idea after handling money and after sneezing or coughing. And wash hands often when someone at home is sick.

Experts say the most effective way to wash is to rub the hands together while using soap and warm water. They say you do not need special antibacterial soap. Be sure to rub all areas of the hands for about ten to fifteen seconds. The rubbing action helps remove germs. Then rinse the hands with clean water and dry them.

Alcohol-based hand sanitizers are rubbed into the hands and do not require soap and water. Experts say these products must contain at least sixty percent alcohol to be effective. Professor Tielsch says hand sanitizers are OK for mothers to use but should not be used on babies’ skin.

Hot weather is a problem in most parts of the world. Every summer, a lot of people fall victims of extreme summer heat throughout the world.

If you know that 2007 saw about 100 deaths due to extreme heat, it won’t be hard for you to recognize the deadliness of heat.

The most common & the least threatening disease caused by heat is heat stress. Wearing heavy clothes, exposure to high humidity, physical exercise etc are considered to be the reasons of it. Whereas avoiding the sun, drinking cool water, light & loose clothing are the possible solutions given by doctors. However, heat stress cannot be overlooked as, if not taken care of seriously then it might turn into serious health issue. Heat stress is more dangerous for the people with weak heart, people who weighs too much or the alcoholics.

Dehydration is another health problem that results from heat. Dehydration is harmful because even two percent water loss can affect human memory & mathematics solving ability& 4-5% loss can reduce working ability by 20-30%.  Situation gets even worse when body temperature reaches above 40 degrees & body stops perspiring. The victim can be seriously affected if not treated immediately.

So many threats & some are even life threatening. Wondering how to keep yourself cool? Well ,the solution is as your mom used to say “Honey, drinks more water”. Exactly. The simplest  & the most effective solution to all heat problems. Apart from that ,   doctor’s advice is to-avoid sun if possible, use caps ,sun glasses, use loose & light garments, stay away from much heavy & hot foods  &  the sweet drinks.

Never forget to keep your doc’s number in your phone book as situation might demand us to act on our feet.

Follow the expert’s advice. Stay cool & healthy.
