Did you ever had an experience of playing a game in which you are required to have a look on the things that are present inside some box for a short period of time and once you are done you have to name the things that you had seen in the box? If never had such an experience then you should certainly try this and find out how well do you perform.
If you desire to make some improvement in the ability you have to recall the items present in some set of specific pictures or in some list then you should really try to make some story through these items. Just think that you need to recall the items in some list that contains coconut tree, golf ball, box, farmer, gorilla snakes, an axes and bananas. If you make an attempt of remembering these items as if they don’t have any kind of relation then it will be quite difficult for you to recall these items at some later stage. While on the other hand if you remember these items of the list by making some sort of story then the process of recalling will be fairly easier for you just like it is given below.
A golf ball falls from some coconut tree directly into a box. A gorilla just came there and gave that ball to the farmer. As a reward the gorilla was given some bananas by the farmer. But at some nearby place there were some hungry snakes that saw those bananas and they immediately attacked that gorilla for the sake of snatching those bananas from the gorilla. The farmer did not like to see the poor gorilla losing his reward therefore with the help of his axe he killed those greedy snakes and saved the gorilla from them.
While you are making some story of particular items present is some list for the sake of memorizing the list then it is necessary for you to use only those items that are present in the list. If you add some additional items that are not present in the list then it might lead to the distortion of your memory. Another disadvantage is that you may mistakenly try to remember those extra items as part of the actual list for some later use. Therefore be precise in your story and just try to stick to the actual items of the list.
