•    Right after his birth, your child will be examined by the “health care giver”. He will check his color, appearance, reflexes, heart rate, breathing and his activity. This will help the care giver to decide whether any kind of special care is required for your baby or not.
•    You should also ask the healthcare staff to place your baby beside you in the bed. Then you should hold and touch your baby and try to find out how the baby feels.
•    There is a chance that the baby appears to be different from your expectations. So you should ask the questions in your mind to the staff of the hospital about the looks of your baby.
•    The staff should be asked to teach you how to take the temperature of your baby and how to read temperature from the thermometer.
•    The baby should receive proper care against hepatitis-B. It is recommended by some of the doctors to give the first shot before leaving for home.
•    It is necessary to take the baby to the doctor as soon as he is one week old. When your baby is born you should immediately take the appointment from the doctor of your baby.

When your child and you are leaving the hospital, the staff will take some drops of blood from the heel of your child in order to check some of the problems that are usually much rare.
A “car safety seat” is required for bringing the baby to home. It is actually a law that while travelling in some van, car or truck you should have the baby in the safety seat which is approved by some authority. So you should ask your care giver to arrange one for you.
